General Introduction & Grade 7 Overview

The 7^th grade curriculum focuses on world history and geography. Building on 6^th grade, the curriculum emphasizes ancient civilizations and the important relationships between people and the lands they settled. The civilizations covered will be Ancient Greece, Rome and a comparison of Feudal societies of the early middle ages in England and Japan. Also a whole section will be studying the roots and spread of Islam and Islamic empires. During the course you should expect your child to continue to develop basic understanding of key vocabulary, concepts and skills related to geography, literacy and analysis.

Assessment

The school year is divided into two semesters and each semester is further divided into two quarters. Outlined below is how grades will be earned/ calculated this year. Assessment is weighted as follows:

·        Tests                                 35%

·        Quizzes                             25%

·        Class/ Homework            15%

·        Project                              25%
